2009 Southwest Conference on Disability

Disability in America: Inalienable Rights for All conference to be held September 30-October 2, 2009 in Albuquerque, NM. To address the long-term challenges faced by Wounded Warriors and how to improve quality of life of people with disabilities through evaluating disability programs, policies and services. Call for proposals deadline is May 15, 2009. Conference registration deadline is September 1, 2009.

Family Engagement Kit 2009

Educates families on safety matters to help prevent accidents from occurring when soldiers are off-duty. This multi-media kit includes a Travel Risk Planning System (TriPS), a Web-based planning tool requiring an AKO login to help you examine and reduce the risk of traveling when using your personal automobile or motorcycle. Also explains how alcohol, fatigue and post-traumatic stress disorder can endanger drivers.

Hope 4 Heroes

Provides support to disabled Veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan who suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, traumatic brain injury, loss of limbs and severe burns. Also offers transition assistance, counseling, career assistance and training, living skills, emergency funding, housing and family counseling.

Military & Family Live Consultant (MFLC) Joint Family Support Assistance Program

Helps meet the needs of geographically-dispersed family members of Active Duty, National Guard and Reserve who otherwise may not be able to find support programs.

A summary of the presentations and work products of the June 2008 Summit on Military Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health and Well-Being During Wartime and Beyond and the future site for the Military Child and Adolescent Center of Excellence (MCACoE).

Military Family Program

Supports military families by connecting them with community organizations, local governments and businesses, as well as provides information and resources on family support, relocation, travel, pay and benefits, job boards and more.

Information for families who have spouses, children or dependent parents who require special medical or educational services.

USA Together - Emergency Support

Brings together injured Service Members who need assistance and the people who want to help them. Allows family members of injured Service Members and Veterans or the injured Service Members and Veterans themselves, to "tell their story" and express any personal need they may have as a result of service in OIF/OEF. Individuals can support them directly with contributions of goods, services or money.

USA4Military Families

Educates state policymakers, not-for-profit associations, concerned business interests and other leaders about the needs of Service Members and their families. Includes ten priority issues identified by DoD.

We Do Care

Provides opportunities to thank and support Active Duty military personnel, their families and Veterans by connecting individuals with partnered service organizations at the Freedom Festival, Freedom Run and other events.

Wounded Warrior Resource Center

Toll-free call center (1-800-342-9647) offers personalized assistance with military and government services related to recovery and rehabilitation. Assistance includes medical care, education, training, job placement, personal mobility, housing, transportation and workplace accommodations, counseling, financial resources and more.
