Mission Statement

The Hydraulics, Hydrology and Geotechnical Design Branch provides engineering services to support the Portland District and its customers. We provide services in the following areas: investigations, planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance of flood damage reduction and fish passage facilities, navigation, and hydroelectric projects. The Branch consists of five sections: Hydraulic Design Section, Hydrologic, Coastal, & River Engineering Section, Reservoir Regulation & Water Quality Section, Geotechnical Design Section, and Concrete & Dam Safety Section. The Branch is primarily composed of Hydraulic and Geotechnical Engineers and other interdisciplinary professionals such as Geologists and Hydrologists. Overall, there are about 65 people in the Branch.

Technical Expertise

The Portland District's Value Engineer and Flood Plain Manager are also assigned to the Branch.
