The Clean Coal Technology Demonstration Program (CCTDP) was launched in 1986 as a multi-billion dollar effort to address acid rain.  The primary goal of the program was to develop and demonstrate, at a commercial scale, a family of clean coal technologies in four categories:
    • Environmental Control Devices
    • Advanced Power Generation
    • Fuel Processing
    • Industrial Applications
The CCTDP evolved as a model of government and industry cooperation, and successfully met the DOE mission of fostering a secure and reliable energy system that is environmentally and economically sustainable. The CCTDP has yielded clean coal technologies that are capable of meeting existing and emerging environmental regulations while competing in a deregulated electric power marketplace.
