Arterial Functional Classification
Unincorporated King County

Print Size: 34 x 44 inches (see link below)

Arterial roads in unincorporated King County are classified into groups according to the type of service they are intended to provide. Such functional classification helps to define the part that any individual road will play in serving the flow of traffic through the road system.

This map depicts the three arterial road classifications in unincorporated King County, which are: Principal Arterial, Minor Arterial and Collector Arterial.

Access the map, and information on the arterial classification system, on the King County Road Services Division website.

Specific descriptions and design features for the arterial classifications can be found in the 1993 King County Road Standards.

King County Bicycling Guidemap

Print Size: 34 x 22 inches (see link below)

The comprehensive King County Bicycling Guidemap includes information on roads, trails and facilities throughout the county. The current map represents the first significant revision of this product since 1998. In addition to the numerous information updates, changes include a larger, easier-to-read format, and new color coding of bicycle routes for easier use. Also, the redesigned map includes even more helpful, informative features, such as the location of public restrooms near bike trails.

Production and printing of the map was funded through a partnership of Group Health Cooperative and King County's Department of Natural Resources and Parks and Department of Transportation.

Free, printed copies of the King County Bicycling Guidemap are available at King County libraries and the King County Map Counter in the King Street Center at the corner of 2nd Avenue South and and South Jackson Street in the Pioneer Square neighborhood of downtown Seattle.

Online versions of the map, both in full-size formats and in easy-to-print segments, are available at Bicycling resources: Maps and trails.

The “Regional Transit Map Book” is a 28-page collection of regional and local transit maps, service information, and provider contacts. It functions as both a high-level regional overview of public transportation options, and a convenient starting point for transit trip planning within the Sound Transit service area.

Booklet features include a region-wide map that delineates the three-county Sound Transit District, and a separate area map for each of the five Sound Transit fare zones. The area maps depict all Sound Transit routes and the connecting local bus routes. Several large-scale maps show even more detail for key urban transit locales.

The maps are supplemented by tables of transit facilities, such as transit centers and park-and-ride lots, as well as the transit service options available at each facility. Bus route tables identify the routes depicted on the maps by number, description, and hours of service.

The booklet also includes information about numerous transit rider options, such as fares and passes, special needs services, and vanpooling. Contact information for nearly twenty Puget Sound area transit service providers ensures ready access to the full range of regional travel options, including online trip planning services.

The "Regional Transit Map Book" was conceived and developed by Sound Transit (external link) with cartographic and booklet design, layout, and production contracted to the King County GIS Center and executed by its Client Services team. Printed copies of the booklet are available at many transit locations throughout the service area.

First edition published June 2006.
Current edition published February 2008.
