In Traditional Corps, you'll serve for 10-11 months and work with local and national non-profits to complete hands-on projects. In FEMA Corps, you'll serve for 12 months under the direction of FEMA to focus on disaster preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery.
As a Corps Member, you'll get the ultimate personal and professional development experience while serving on a team of your peers. As a Team Leader, you'll put yourself to the test and provide mentorship and guidance to a team of 8-10 Corps Members.

Basic Qualifications, Application Deadlines, and Service Schedules
Corps Member
To serve as a Corps Member, you must be between 18-26* years old. You may apply to Traditional Corps at 17, as long as you will turn 18 before arriving on campus. You must be 18 to apply to FEMA Corps.
Must be a US. Citizen (required for FEMA Corps), or a Lawful Permanent Resident of the U.S.
Must pass an initial drug screening test upon arrival to the program. A positive test on a drug screen for any substance (including marijuana) at any time during service could result in dismissal from the program.
Team Leader
To serve as a Team Leader, you must be 18 or older (no upper age limit). You may apply to Traditional Corps at 17, as long as you will turn 18 before arriving on campus. You must be 18 to apply to FEMA Corps.
Must be a U.S. Citizen (Required for FEMA Corps), or a Lawful Permanent Resident of the U.S.
Must have a valid U.S. Driver's License

*The CARES Act, passed by Congress in response to the Coronavirus pandemic, increased the upper age limit for participation as an AmeriCorps NCCC Corps Member to 26 years old. Under the CARES Act, Section 3514(d), the upper age limit for AmeriCorps NCCC members is 26. AmeriCorps NCCC applies the upper age limit at the time a member arrives on campus and is activated as a member. That means individuals must be on campus and activated as members for at least one day before turning 27. The 26-year upper age limit will remain in effect until further notice.

Training locations are assigned by NCCC staff; applicants do not have the ability to select locations. Once in service, Traditional Corps teams travel throughout their assigned region while FEMA Corps team can travel throughout the entire United States.

FEMA Corps Listings (Both Corps Members and Team Leaders)
Serve for 10 months as a Corps Member and gain a variety of professional experiences. Educate communities on sustainability and energy conservation, restore and build hiking trails, or build homes. Or serve for 11 months as a Team Leader and guide members through this transformative service experience.
FEMA Corps Teams serve nationally under Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) direction to complete administrative projects related to disaster preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery.
Serve for 12 months and rack up professional skills that are highly transferable. Coordinate with nonprofits and government agencies, plan response and relief efforts during a disaster, or conduct damage assessments after a disaster. Team Leaders also serve for 12 months in FEMA Corps.
Serve as a Corps Member and get the ultimate personal and professional development experience. Undergo intensive training at the beginning of your service to prepare you for the adventure ahead, and take on leadership roles and specialized assignments along the way. Learn and grow with a team of your peers and build lasting friendships.

Please note – Anyone may apply to be a Team Leader. Prior service experience is NOT required.
