OEI News

When EITF opened it doors, a commitment was made to communicate frequently with stakeholders to exchange information on renewable energy initiatives, technologies and potential project opportunities.  On 1 October 2014, the Secretary of the Army established the Office of Energy Initiatives.  OEI News formally known as EITF News is one more way to keep this commitment.  The intent of OEI news is to keep you informed about OEI large-scale renewable energy projects and current hot topics. 



  • August 2016 | This edition of OEI News also includes a discussion of the procurement strategy that the Army and Air Force are exploring as part of their collaborative renewable energy portfolio efforts afforded by the recent signing of a Memorandum of Agreement between the two agencies. In addition, the News provides information on the Army's largest renewable energy project to date, a 30 megawatt solar renewable energy project at Fort Benning, Georgia.
  • April 2016 | This edition of OEI News also includes information on the collaborative efforts between the Army and the Air Force to develop large-scale renewable energy projects on Army and Air Force installations. This collaboration provides an excellent opportunity for partnerships in support of the Department of Defense’s renewable energy efforts.
  • November/December 2015 | This issue includes a reflection on the origins of the OEI and provides an update on the latest milestones in support of the Army’s large-scale renewable energy program. The issue also reviews Department of Defense activities in support of October Energy Action Month and collaborative efforts with the Department of Energy.
