Where We Are Going (Our Long-Range View)

Our long-range view may take a generation or longer (15-25 years) to achieve.

Some believe that it represents an impossible future (to quote Robert Hargrove, author of The Masterful Coaching Fieldbook).

If you believe that talented, passionate and perhaps, unbalanced, visionaries can achieve this game-changing future, we want to hear from you. This future is so “out-there” that we need to band together and prove the critics wrong.

We are looking for courageous partners who will dedicate themselves and their organizations to making this future a reality for our veterans, their families and their communities.

So get ready to change! Together, we will - Transform America with Veterans First! through personal touch, compassion, connectivity and competence.

Our objectives:

  • Return manufacturing to America’s communities
  • Rebuild pride through “VetBiz-Made in America!”
  • Restore our Environment – Go Green with Veterans First!
  • Respond to Emergencies with Veterans First!
  • Rely upon experienced owners to guide tomorrow’s business leaders through Operation: VetBiz Education.

How will we create this future?

Operation Transformation : Transform America’ communities with veteran-owned manufacturing businesses:

  • VetBiz Initiative for National Sustainment
  • VetBiz Manufacturing Technical Assistance Program
  • VetBiz Manufacturing Extension Partnership Initiative
  • VetBiz Technology Transfer Initiative
  • VetBiz Sustainable Energy Solutions

Operation Restoration : Restore pride, hope and dreams for all of America’s veterans through business ownership, employment opportunities and community partnerships.

  • Veterans First in National Emergencies : veterans will be first responders in supplying goods and services to restore communities ravaged by natural or civic disasters
  • Go Green with Veterans First : ensuring the quality of life for generations to come through careful stewardship of the environment.
  • Building Better BRAC Communities with Veterans First
  • Rebuild Pride through “VetBiz-Made in America”
  • Veterans First in Community Prosperity Partnerships : Restore Hope and Promise for Self-Employed and Micro-Entrepreneur Veterans through community-based and faith-based partnership support.

Operation: VetBiz Education : In business, learning never ends. But who has time to keep up with all the changes? We pledge to you that we will develop a multi-modal learning system that will meet your information needs. We will offer face-to-face coaching, counseling, formal classroom training, online training and owner volunteers who want you to succeed.

  • VETS SCORE!: We will work with the Service Corps of Retired Executives to recruit entrepreneurial veterans for their local chapters in order to provide transitioning personnel and owners with “business buddies” who have shared, and launched military experience into successful business ventures.
  • VetBiz Credentialed Federal Contractor Program : Business owners will complete a series of learning activities that will document and reinforce their knowledge of Federal prime and subcontract program rules. This training is similar to Defense Acquisition University or Federal Acquisition Institute blueprints for acquiring specific contracting knowledge and demonstrating their application of the skills. Training will be on-line or classroom.
  • VetBiz Mezzanine Owners’ University-based Training : This program is similar to the Small Disadvantaged Business university-based seminars for owners who are ready to move their business to the “next level.” To be eligible, owners should be earning revenues of approximately $3-8 Million per year and be forecasting growth to the $15-25 Million range.
  • VetBiz “State-reach:” In a December 2007 research report, SBA’s Office of Advocacy reported there are more veteran-owned small businesses seeking to contract with state or local governments than are interested in contracting with the Federal government. VA wants to see inclusion programs for veterans and/or service-disabled veterans in every state and every municipality that has preference programs for small business groups. We plan to offer our services to any governmental entity that is exploring development of a program for veterans, standardize definitions of veterans to the maximum extent practicable, offer our verified database services free of charge to state or local governmental employees and conduct awareness briefings for government personnel or business owners seeking to do business that that office.
  • VetBiz “Competitive Advantage” Topical Training : Because business rules change so quickly, we pledge to operate a virtual classroom in which emerging topics are posted for owners’ awareness; where we will post discussion boards to learn owners’ views on proposed legislation; where owners can seek advice from one another and take advantage of the team-building begun in uniform and now transferred to the boardroom. We want veterans in business to be the best they can be and to perform each and every contract in an outstanding manner.

We will Transform America with Veterans First! through personal touch, compassion, connectivity and competence, because Veterans in Business are Still Serving America!
