Army Vocational/Technical (AVOTEC) Soldier Program

This short-term education pilot program provides expanded education opportunities for soldiers, officers and wounded warriors serving on active duty -- to include National Guard and Reserve soldiers on extended active duty -- with training in high-demand career fields to help them find employment after they transition out of the Army. Such career fields include rehabilitation, nursing, medical technology, and other health care occupations.

Healthcare Career Opportunities - Military to Medicine Program

Provides new Army Reserve Soldiers opportunities for employment at Inova Health System facilities once they successfully complete military occupational training in areas of critical clinical support. Also provides healthcare job opportunities to military spouses, allowing these them to transfer their skills and experience to healthcare positions at facilities wherever they are stationed.

Information Technology (IT) Training

The Computing Technology Industry Association's (CompTIA) Educational Foundation offers Creating Futures, a free online IT training and certification program for disabled Veterans and transitioning Veterans interested in a career in the IT industry. Download an application here.

Offers a comprehensive website for helping Veterans and their family members choose careers, select the right degree, find military-friendly schools, learn how to use benefits to pay for school and other important information on financial aid, credit for military experience and more.

Navy Nurse Candidate Program

Provides a monthly stipend for full time students in accredited Bachelor of Science Nursing programs. Students can enroll after their sophomore year and receive an initial grant of $10,000 (paid in two installments of $5000 each), plus $1000 a month for up to 24 months.

Operation Life Transformed

Enables caregivers and military spouses to find and participate in job placement, training and educational programs that fit around medical schedules, deployment, future rehabilitation and transitioning in the military family.

Severely Injured Military Veterans - Fulfilling Their Dreams

Provides direct support to severely injured military Veterans and their families by helping them align their career goals with educational opportunity. While Service Members are recovering at Bethesda Naval Hospital, Walter Reed Army Hospital, Brooke Army Hospital or the Naval Medical Center San Diego, academic advisers assist them with developing customized educational plans.

Provides easy access to education and career development information and resources from the U.S. government. Includes links to help plan and pay for your education, including college search directories, financial aid and scholarship resources, online education, internships and more.

Transition Training Academy

Provides comprehensive, instructor-led eLearning and IT and Cisco network certifications to recovering wounded warriors. Created to provide training and career opportunities when traditional classroom training is not feasible.

Veterans Upward Bound (VUB)

Program designed to help eligible U.S. military Veterans refresh their academic skills so that they can successfully complete the postsecondary school of their choosing.

Visual Arts and Design Education for the Military

Offers education for careers in graphic design, Web design, multimedia, or game art for Service Members and their spouses.

Wall Street Warfighters

Brochure on the Financial & Trading Education Program that prepares eligible disabled Veterans for leadership positions in the financial services industry. A six-month program consisting of four phases: assessment and career guidance, short-term internship exposure, academics and testing and a formal internship.

Wounded Warrior Mentor Program

Matches volunteer combat Veterans serving as mentors with Wounded Warriors needing orientation and counseling on benefits, jobs, educational opportunities and handling of finances.

Writers Program for Wounded Warriors

Offers 10-day writing workshops in Belfast, Maine and New York City for disabled Veterans, where Veterans can tell their stories and train with professional playwrights. Full travel and academic scholarships are provided to all Veterans accepted into the program. Programs have been designed to be completely accessible for persons with disabilities.
