Nuclear Energy Summit
On October 8, the Secretaries of Commerce and Energy hosted a Nuclear Energy
Summit which brought together leading experts in their fields. Participants included national and
regional regulators, financiers, academics, senior executives from the nuclear industry, and
representatives from interested federal agencies, the Congress, and labor unions.
Participants explored opportunities and challenges relating to the growth of the U.S. civil
nuclear industry and the policies and programs needed to ensure U.S. nuclear industry
competitiveness at home and abroad. Summit panels served as planning sessions to develop a
roadmap to ensure a successful future for nuclear power in the United States and worldwide.
