Option To Go Back To Previous Style

You keep making changes that get worse and once we get used to the new change you make another. The new recent activity is horrible and not user friendly. It was nice to have the notifications and newly uploaded pics in one spot now i have to go into another area to look at notifications. In the old design it was easy to like we didn't even have to click on the image to like it and there were thumbnail views of multiple uploaded pics we could choose to look at IF we wanted to, this is just a bunch of clutter now. It's a horrible design, the worst yet.

Please stop with putting "recommended" photos from random people in my feed. I only want to see my friends and family not the whole world!!!

Please do not put "recommended" photos in my feed. It is annoying!!! Please stop! You didn't even ask if we wanted this!

Request to Flickr: set the default for "Downloading" and "Share" to DISabled

At this moment "downloading" on the All Sizes page is by default set to *enabled* (from our Settings: *anyone*)
This is also the case for the Share feature in our Settings.

In my opinion this gives the wrong message; the interpretation that "free to download" equals "Free to use" is an easy step.
Same with Sharing: why would you be allowed to slap an image just anywhere you like, without taking into consideration that the photographer may not endorse that particular blog or site ?

Flickr could be an innovator, curbing this if-it's-on-the-net-it-is-free-to-take mentality by turning the default around: no, you cannot just take it, unless the photographer makes the *conscious decision* to allow others to download/share their stuff with all the consequences that may bring.

Setting the default to allow downloading Flickr is basically saying "what is yours is others' too" and with a view to All Rights Reserved images that is a misconception.

Please fix the uploader, I pay for this service yet it no longer delivers, what are you doing about it??

Provide a way to remove GROUPS from my Flickr Feed

The new Flickr Feed page is TERRIBLE. I don't want to keep up the random posts to a ton of groups. I do want to keep up with a very SELECT group of PEOPLE I follow--there's a big difference between the two. The developers can go off on their merry tangents, just give us a way to arrange things the way WE like. Seem's fair enough to me!

Users are wrongly picking "Public domain work" for obviously copyright images

Flickr provides two very similar options: "Public domain work" and "Public Domain Dedication (CC0)". The former is for works that are already in the public domain, such as a scan of an out-of-copyright photo. The latter is where photographers can make statement that they are releasing their work into the public domain. Furthermore, in countries that do not permit people to make sucha a release, it acts as a free copyright licence with no restrictions on use and resuse.

By picking the first tag for their photos, the legal value of such a tag is worthless. It indicates the user did not know what they were doing. This can prevent the image being reused or uploaded e.g. to Wikimedia Commons.

Please can Flickr improve the UI to help users pick the correct tag. It should be made clear that the first tag is only for works already in the public domain. Additionally, Flickr could scan the EXIF of any JPG tagged this way, and warn the user it is likely to be an incorrect choice if the EXIF indicates the image is a digital photograph.

Create a Group Founder Category For All Groups

This has been brought up, discussed, and requested repeatedly over the last decade, yet Flickr has done absolutely nothing to fix the situation and address the issues with rogue administrators that at some point just take over a group and will not cooperate with any of the other admins who are trying to keep the group on track with its intended purpose!

As a group founder you may or may not have experienced this issue as of yet, but if you have granted admin privileges or intend to grant admin privileges to any member of your group, be forewarned that once you do, there currently is no turning back if something goes wrong with that choice!

The scenario is this, you start a group and are the only admin, it's small, you don't really need help administering it so you are in full control. Time goes on and the group grows so big, or gets so active, or you just don't have as much time as you need to administer it yourself efficiently, so you dig into the current member pool asking for help.

A nice member agrees to help manage the group, so you upgrade their status and make them a moderator, which for a time everything is great. The moderator has less privileges than you as an admin, so if they didn't work out, you can easily demote them back into a regular member, or boot them from the group if they had become unruly or disrespectful to you or other group members.

Over time the moderator seems to do well moderating your group, so you feel that they might even be more useful if they are given more responsibility and privileges, so you ask them to be an admin, and they agree . . . so you promote them.

That's where everything can wrong in the blink of an eye, or should I say, with just one small disagreement this new admin might have with the group (its rules/requirements, etc.), another admin or moderator, or even simple members!

They can start deleting and changing just about everything they want within the group (except for demoting or deleting other admins) whenever they want, without any recourse available for other admins or the group founder to stop them if what they are doing is not beneficial or is actually harmful for the group to keep running smoothly.

As an admin, this member now cannot be demoted by anyone, not another admin or even the group founder (assuming the founder is still in the group and remained as an admin too), with the only exception being that they would actually demote themselves . . . which of course won't usually happen if an admin is acting maliciously anyway, so the group is now stuck with this person having all this control over the group.

There has to be at least one way to stop this from happening, and Flickr (or now Yahoo), has one that can easily be initiated, just create a Founder's category within every group that contains the single person who originally created the group, which will always have privileges above and beyond those of all other group members, allowing this one person to at least be able to remove rogue admins from the group if the unfortunate situation arises!

I implore all group founders (and anyone else who agrees) to add maximum votes for this request and post their experiences or thoughts about it here and now, as group founders definitely need a way to always remain in complete control of their own group if they wish to do so, even if they need others to help administer the group!

Too many clicks to see photo details

When you click a photo there should be a way to see the details. With the current change you need to click the photo and then click the photographer to get to their stream, then re-click the photo you were just looking at to see the details. Suggest adding an icon (i) maybe, on the banner at the bottom where you click favorite, forward etc. so you can jump directly to the narrative and EXIF, location etc.

Present great Flickr Groups in the Weekly Flickr

There are some awesome groups in Flickr that do more than just collecting photographs. It would be great to present some of these groups in the Weekly Flickr blog.
I'm part of the admin team of Flickr's 100 Best (https://flic.kr/g/dhB69L). It is the Hunger Game of Flickr and has a limited pool of 100 awesome photographs of all kind. Over 10'000 members challenge the actual pool photographs to get theirs in. Our group is highly active with over 50 challenges a month.
Besides the fun aspect, members get a serious and constructive critique in our group and fantastic hints how to improve their photographic and editorial skills.
If one searches in Google for the "best group in Flickr" he will unavoidably be directed to our group. Hence we have a huge traffic of curious Flickr members. Winning photographs get great visibility and will not be covered by a myriad of new images within an instance.

Automatic Album sort by newest to oldest in albums

Photos should automatically sort by newest to oldest in albums. It is SO frustrating that I have to edit the arrangement after every upload. Why can't I choose a default for every upload?

Unable to favorite or comment in Photostream when Multiple photos

When 2 or more photos are displayed from the same person there is no option to favorite or comment. You need to open these in a new window to do this. Better to be able to do this from the Photostream main page as before. This still works for single photos just not when there are 2 or more from the same person

Allow users to upload/download and support higher quality lossless formats such as PNG or TIFF

Hi. Can you please allow users to upload lossless PNG files?!! JPEGs are not the best quality for users to share with their relatives, friends, and coworkers. Many people use Flickr for all types of purposes, including business purposes. I also use Flickr to store some of my photos. But JPEG is a lossy fornat and when I upload my high quality images, I lose some of the quality on Flickr.

why isn't flickr smart enough to upload multiple files taken on multiple dates in multiple folders ? if my camera is smart enough to organize it why isn't flickr? I should be able to upload as many as I want, all at once.

stop making my group pictures the first page when signing on instead of my recent activity page

Not sure why flickr decided to make my group pictures the opening page when signing on to flickr, but please go back to having the recent activity page my my account be the opening page.
