DON Senior Spectrum Manager Elected to IRAC Agency Vice Chair Position

The Department of the Navy's senior spectrum manager was named Agency Vice Chairman of the Interdepartment Radio Advisory Committee (IRAC) April 23.

Tom Kidd, Strategic Spectrum Policy Lead for the DON Chief Information Officer was elected, by unanimous consent of the other IRAC Federal agencies. Kidd has been the DON IRAC representative, and a member of the DON CIO staff, for eight years and will continue in that role while serving as the IRAC Agency Vice Chairman.

The IRAC is one of the longest continually meeting committees in the Federal government. It was formed in the 1920s for the purpose of advising the Executive Branch on spectrum matters affecting the federal agencies. Today the IRAC advises the National Telecommunications and Information Administration on assigning radio frequencies to Federal agencies, developing and executing Federal spectrum policies, programs, procedures and technical criteria pertaining to the allocation, management, and use of the spectrum.
