The Real Estate Section (LFL-3) provides policy and central direction for real estate matters, land use and community planning, and encroachment control throughout the Marine Corps. These functions include all real estate transactions such as property disposals (including BRAC disposals), transfers, acquisitions, leases, and use agreements. The real estate section manages the Marine Corps' community planning efforts by coordinating with the Department of the Navy and local installation commanders to facilitate compatible land use planning through programs such as the Air Installation Compatible Use Zone (AICUZ), Range Air Installation Compatible Use Zone (RAICUZ), Joint Land Use Study (JLUS) and comprehensive base and regional master planning. The Real Estate section is the HQMC portal for Marine Corps encroachment control priorities, programs, policy, and resource implementation for its real property, including sustainable ranges.
