Boots to Books

Assists the deployed, post-deployed and veteran (DPV) student in making a positive transition from military to civilian life or from deployment to post-deployment life including college survival skills. Teaches students interpersonal skills and techniques for managing Military Readjustment Transition Issues. Offered as both a traditional and online college credit course through Citrus College in Glendora, CA.

California Association of County Veterans Service Officers (CACVSO)

Advocates on behalf of California Veterans, promoting legislation and policy supportive of Veterans' rights and issues. Also, provides services to Veterans and their families. Contact your nearest Veterans service office.

California Community Colleges - Troops to College Program

Provides educational opportunities, outreach programs, academic advising and financial aid advising at community colleges in California to active duty Service Members and Veterans.

California Community Colleges System Office

Supplies workforce training and basic skills education, prepares students for transfer to four-year institutions and offers opportunities for personal enrichment and lifelong learning.

California Department of Education - Military Children

Provides information for parents, counselors, educators and administrators on the challenges faced by military children, including the stress of family deployment and tips for fostering connectedness to schools.

California Department of Rehabilitation

Provides services and advocacy resulting in employment, independent living and equality for individuals with disabilities.

California Directory of Military Education Centers

List of area centers that provide education counseling support and Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES) testing services.

California Disabled Veterans Business Alliance

Provides information and support to all California Disabled Veteran Business Enterprises (CADVBE), including how to participate in state contracts for providing goods and services, how to get certified and whom to contact for assistance. Also offers information on the California College Fee Waiver (CFW) Program that benefits the spouse and children of U.S. Veterans.

California Job Corps Centers

Provides contact information, vocational offerings and other information on California Job Corps Centers. Job Corps is a no-cost education and vocational training program administered by the U.S. Department of Labor that helps young people aged 16 through 24 get a better job, make more money and take control of their lives.

California Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC) Consortium Members

Allows military students to take courses in their off-duty hours at or near military installations in the United States, overseas, and on Navy ships. See pages 3-4 of the SOC Consortium Member Institutions for a list of California institutions.

California State University (CSU) System

Provides financial assistance for qualified applicants, along with counseling and placement assistance for Veterans who wish to become teachers in California.

Offers assistance with applying for education benefits, coordinating the V.A. work study program and processing tutorial assistance paperwork for Veterans planning to attend San Diego State University.

Success Skills Inc.

Non-profit Veteran service agency that helps provide employment and employment training, housing, substance abuse assistance, and case management services for returning wounded warriors and other Veterans, including low-income Veterans, homeless Veterans and their families.

Transitioning to College Life for Veterans

Offers the Lifestyle Redesign for Veterans program at the University of Southern California to empower Veterans who have returned to college to successfully transition to college life. The program coaches student Veterans to learn the techniques and skills to advance and complete their degree programs.
