Credit: USFWS The National Fish Passage Program (NFPP) is a voluntary, non-regulatory effort that provides financial and technical assistance to remove or bypass artificial barriers that impede the movement of fish and contribute to their decline. The NMFWCO works with partners in identifying and prioritizing fish passage needs on state, federal and private lands. These projects include low water stream crossings, culvert replacement, and passage through water diversion structures. The NMFWCO and their partners have successfully opened miles of river to fishes that were previously inaccessible due to diversion structures.
