We greatly appreciate public support for wildlife refuges, and engaging the public and partner agencies in refuge planning is a priority for us. Your involvement and input is integral to progressive refuge management, outreach, and policy development. The
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Pacific Region manages National Wildlife
Refuges in four western states and the Pacific Island Territories. Refuge Planning supports the Region's refuges by providing planning
and other services which ensure that each refuge contributes
to the
mission and goals of the National Wildlife Refuge System.
Our focus is on three primary types of refuge planningrefuge
management, refuge roads, and
land protection. We
focused on refuge management plans known as Comprehensive Conservation
Plansfor this webpage; land protection projects
are also part it. |

Why
Plannning is Important
|
To
evaluate the effects of refuge management actions on wildlife, habitat,
and people, we complete a detailed planning and public involvement process
for every unit of the National Wildlife Refuge System. Planning contributes
to informed decision-making that recognizes the needs and interests of
all parties. |
