The Center for Innovative Technology (CIT) is a nonprofit corporation that accelerates innovation, imagination and emerging technology and technology companies. CIT creates new technology companies through commercialization, capital formation and market development services. To facilitate national innovation leadership and technology adoption, CIT connects innovative technology startup companies with advanced technology consumers. The Center offers various programs, including seed stage investments via the GAP Fund, the Commonwealth Research Commercialization Fund, and Broadband assistance.
CIT GAP Funds makes seed-stage equity investments in Virginia-based technology, clean tech and life science companies with a high potential for achieving rapid growth and generating significant economic return for entrepreneurs, co-investors and the Commonwealth of Virginia. CIT GAP Funds investments are overseen by the CIT GAP Funds Investment Advisory Board (IAB). This independent, third-party panel consists of leading regional entrepreneurs, angel and strategic investors, and venture capital funds such as: New Enterprise Associates, Rotech Ventures, Valhalla Partners, Harbert Venture Partners, HIG Ventures, Edison Ventures, In-Q-Tel, Intersouth Partners, SJF Ventures, Cariion Clinic, Johnson & Johnson, General Electric and Alpha Natural Resources.
The CRCF advances science- and technology-based research, development and commercialization to drive economic growth in Virginia and to encourage collaboration among its institutions of higher education and partnerships between these colleges and universities, and business and industry. In FY2012, the General Assembly approved $6 million for the CRCF; five programs were eligible for funding in FY2012: Commercialization, Facility Enhancement Loans, Eminent Researcher Recruitment and Matching Funds. As part of the CRCF funding package, the General Assembly created the Research and Technology Investment Advisory Committee (RTIAC), comprised of university, industry and economic development experts, to review applications and make award recommendations to the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Investment Authority (IEIA).

Our mission is to assist Small, Disadvantaged, Women Owned, Veteran Owned, Disabled Veteran Owned and HUBZone certified businesses that want to increase their opportunities in the Federal, State, and Local Government marketplace. We also assist Prime Contractors in locating small businesses to act as subcontractors for government contracts.

PTAC Mission
The Procurement Technical Assistance Center promotes the development of community and economic development partnerships by providing technical, business training and consulting services to companies entering or participation in the government contracting marketplace.
We are government marketing specialists who help businesses use government contracting to its fullest potential. We participate in Department of Defense national training and those of other federal and state agencies related to procurement regulations and keep our clients up to date on the latest issues in the government contracting environment.

PTAC Goal
The Center’s goal is to generate employment and improve the economy of southwestern and western Virginia by assisting business firms in their efforts to obtain and perform under federal, state, and local government contracts.

The PTAC offers a computerized Bid Matching Service to locate federal, state and local bid opportunities pertinent to your business. Bid Matches are based on a profile of your company’s capabilities, products and services. The PTAC counselor will assist you in defining these criteria.

The Virginia statewide PTAP at George Mason University Mason Enterprise Center is a non-profit program funded by the university and a Federal Government Cooperative Agreement.
Co-located in the City of Fairfax, VA with the Northern Virginia Procurement Technical Assistance Center, the VA PTAP manages two additional satellite procurement centers in the Commonwealth. They are the Central Virginia PTAC at Charlottesville, and the Hampton Roads PTAC at Williamsburg, Virginia.
All centers provide services that help business do business with government at the Federal, State, and Local level.
