MBDA provides funding for a network of Minority business centers located throughout the Nation. The Centers provide minority entrepreneurs with one-on-one assistance in writing business plans, marketing, management and technical assistance and financial planning to assure adequate financing for business ventures.
The Centers are staffed by business specialists who have the knowledge and practical experience needed to run successful and profitable businesses. Business referral services are provided free of charge. However, the network generally charges nominal fees for specific management and technical assistance services.
Working through our network of business centers, MBDA strives to create a new generation of minority-owned businesses generating $100 million in annual revenues. Our strategic focus is to maximize job creation and global competitiveness for minority-owned businesses and to foster innovation and entrepreneurship with minority-owned businesses in high-growth industries.
The MBDA Business Center located in Memphis, TN is operated by the Mid-South Minority Business Council. The center is part of a national network of funded centers located in major cities throughout the United States. The center works with minority business enterprises to generate increased financing and contract opportunities and to create and retain jobs.

Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) Program
The Procurement Technical Assistance Center assists businesses to compete successfully in federal, state and local government contracting. The University of Tennessee Center for Industrial Services has provided these services since 1986. PTAC is funded, in part, by the U.S. Department of Defense and is administered through a cooperative agreement with the Defense Logistics Agency. UT PTAC services are delivered to you at no charge.
Last year our PTAC consultants assisted 489 companies in Tennessee, generating more than $650 million in contract dollar, which led to some 13,000 jobs being created or retained.
