DLA Executive Development Program (EDP)
Fiscal Year (FY) 2013

Solicitation Opening Date: October 10, 2012
Solicitation Closing Date: November 14, 2012

The Agency annually solicits nominations for the EDP and is currently seeking nominations for FY 13. The purpose of the EDP is to develop DLA's current and future leaders, prepare them to effectively navigate and manage leadership challenges, and develop leadership competencies critical to maintaining supply chain excellence. Managers are encouraged to nominate high potential, highly motivated individuals. Managers must also ensure the nominee’s availability to attend, if selected, and that a plan is in place to leverage the knowledge and skills learned. Individuals may be nominated for up to two courses. Nominations are being accepted for the following courses:

ELIGIBILITY
DLA civilian employees in grades GS-13 through GS-15 are eligible for nomination.
Exception*: GS-12s may be nominated for designated courses.

FUNDING
Tuition, travel, and per diem are the responsibility of the nominating organization.

SELECTION
Selection decisions are made by the DLA Executive Resources Board.

NOMINATION PROCESS
Nomination packages must be submitted through the nominee’s chain of command to DLA Human Resources Services, DLA Training. Nomination packages must be received by November 14, 2012, at the following address: Defense Logistics Agency, ATTN: DLA Executive Development Program Manager, 8725 John J. Kingman Road, Room 1559, Fort Belvoir, Virginia, 22060-6221. Nomination packages may also be hand-carried to room 1559 within DLA Headquarters. Nomination packages must include the DLA nomination application, DLA executive sponsorship endorsement (nominating organization’s Commander/Director or SES-level deputy), and other documents as specified on each course description. Nominees are encouraged to review course requirements carefully and begin early.  Incomplete packages will be screened out. 

  1. Review course descriptions. Discuss program benefits with your supervisor, and how you will be able to leverage the knowledge and skills learned in the workplace upon completion. Contact your organization’s training coordinator (or EDP point of contact) to determine your organization’s internal suspense date, discuss internal nomination processes, and discuss the process for obtaining executive sponsorship endorsement.

  2. Complete the EDP Nomination Application. Be sure to allow time for your supervisor to complete the supervisor’s section.

  3. Complete and/or gather supporting documents.  Some courses require official transcripts, letters of recommendation, and more. Please read course descriptions carefully and plan time accordingly.

  4. Forward your nomination package through your chain of command for Executive Sponsorship Endorsement.

  5. Nominating organizations provide the EDP Manager with consolidated nomination packages.
