The Work We Do
Jacksonville is home to NAVAIR’s Fleet Readiness Center Southeast. We perform in-depth overhaul, repair, and modification of aircraft, engines, and aeronautical components. Jacksonville is the largest city in land area in the contiguous United States. The majority of Jacksonville's metropolitan population of more than 1.3 million resides within the city limits, making it the most populous city proper in Florida and the twelfth most populous in the United States.

Our mission is to maintain capability for and perform a complete range of intermediate-level and depot-level rework operations on designated weapon systems, accessories and equipment; to manufacture parts and assemblies as required; to provide engineering services in developing changes of hardware design; to furnish technical and other professional services on aircraft maintenance and logistics problems; and to perform, upon specific request or assignment, other levels of aircraft maintenance for eligible activities, and to perform all other functions and tasks as may be assigned by higher authority.

Jacksonville also boasts some of the most prominent golf courses in the country including TPC at Sawgrass, site of the PGA Tour’s Players Championship. Jacksonville has been chosen by a number of film and television studios for on-location shooting.

Jacksonville has many venues for concerts and cultural events and hosts annual events such as the annual Jazz Festival. Jacksonville has fully enclosed shopping malls as well as open-air malls with a similar mix of stores but without being contained under a single, enclosed roof. Jacksonville is home to one major league sports team—the NFL's Jaguars—and a number of minor league teams. Jacksonville is also home to two universities, a four year college, and the fourth largest community college in the country. All these institutions field sports teams. Additionally, several college sports events are held in Jacksonville annually by teams and conferences not located in the city.
