HIRING PROCESS

Hiring Process

Applying for federal employment can seem overwhelming, especially if you’ve only applied for jobs in the private sector. Don’t let that deter you from taking the first step towards a fulfilling, challenging, and important career.

There’s one thing to keep in mind about our hiring process: applying is not the same as submitting your resume.

When you apply, you do so for one specific open position, through one of the federal government’s application Web sites.

When you submit your resume, you do so directly to NAVAIR, entering your resume in our database, where we can consider you for any open position, at the location(s) you identify, for which you might be qualified.

We strongly urge each interested candidate to submit his or her resume to our database as a first step. If you see an open position listed on USAJobs™ that you’re particularly interested in, go ahead and apply. However, the best way to get the attention of our hiring managers is to submit your resume directly to NAVAIR.

The Naval Air Warfare Centers Aircraft Division (Patuxent River, Lakehurst, Orlando) and Weapons Division (China Lake, Point Mugu) sites are now accepting applicants with Advanced degrees (PhD and Masters) and Bachelors, Masters or PhDs with a GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale in the following disciplines: Aerospace Engineer, Chemical Engineer, Computer Engineer, Electrical/Electronic Engineer, Engineering Psychology, Industrial Engineer, Instructional Systems Design Engineer, Materials Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Chemist, Computer Scientist, Mathematician, Physicist, Operations Research Analyst, Research Psychologist.
