If a storm is approaching:
Turn off electricity, gas; and unplug electronic equipment
Keep insurance policy on hand and updated
Carry all credit cards
Check food supply (canned goods are best), batteries, emergency tools and supplies.
Also try to keep half a tank or more of fuel in your car(s).
Withdraw emergency cash from ATMs early as they may become inoperable if the power goes out.
Plan possible escape routes
Monitor latest advisories
Leave low-lying areas
Leave mobile homes
Board windows or protect with shutters or tape
Secure outdoor areas
Store drinking water
Check battery-powered equipment
