Q: How does an item get placed on the agenda?
A: An item may be placed on the agenda by the
Mayor or
City Manager . The
Mayor and
City Manager
work in conjunction to exercise their best judgment in
determining what other items of city business should come
before the council. A city council member, in accordance
with V.T.C.A., Government Code § 551.042, may propose an
item for inclusion on the agenda for a subsequent meeting,
and any deliberation or decision on such item shall be
limited to the proposal to place the item on the agenda.
Two or more of the city council members may make a request
in writing that an agenda item be placed on the agenda for
any subsequent meeting; such item shall be placed on the
agenda for discussion and/or action as requested. City
staff seeking to have an item placed on an agenda shall
submit that item to the city manager's office for approval.
Citizens may send requests to the
Mayor or City
Manager regarding items they would like to have
presented for Council consideration; requests may be sent by
U. S. Mail, fax (281-351-6256).
