What We Do

Our Primary Work is Federal Home Loan Bank Examinations

The Office of Supervision is responsible for the Finance Board’s three statutory duties - ensuring that the Federal Home Loan Banks operate safely and soundly, carry out the housing finance mission, and remain adequately capitalized and can raise funds in the capital markets.  The Office of Supervision performs these functions through annual on-site examinations at each FHLBank and the Office of Finance, quarterly visits to each FHLBank and off-site monitoring.  On-site examinations review each institution's financial condition, risk management, safety and soundness, adherence to financial, management and accounting practices and compliance with Finance Board directives.  The quarterly visits assess progress in addressing examination findings and new developments in the FHLBank’s operations.
