The Department of Art Education and Art History offers degrees in visual arts studies (BFA), art education (MA and PhD), art history (BA and MA), and interdisciplinary art and design studies (BA). The department also offers a graduate academic certificates in arts leadership and art museum education. Graduate Academic Certificates in Arts Leadership and Art Museum Education
Doctoral applicants are eligible for several competitive scholarships that cover tuition and fees and provide a stipend. These include a multi-year Masters/Doctoral Fellowship that pays tuition and fees and provides a stipend without a work requirement in the first year! Additional support includes teaching assistantships and fellowships, either with or without tuition/fee scholarships! Consult the department office for more information.

New MFA and Ph.D. students may be eligible to receive $1,000 Academic Achievement Scholarships for their first year of study. This award qualifies a student for in-state tuition rates and is renewable for a second year if the student makes satisfactory progress in his/her program during the first year. Contact the Graduate School for further details.

When you have completed the requirements for Major status, your degree plan must be processed through faculty advising. Art History majors must attend the Entrance Event. IADS majors should follow the instructions found in the IADS manual. Visual Arts Studies students will complete degree plans in AEAH 3753. Art History and Visual Arts Studies students may click here for the degree plan form. IADS majors should print out the IADS manual, including the degree plan form, which is found here.
