Solid Waste Funding: A Guide to Federal Assistance, available on the Jobs Through Recycling website, provides information on a variety of funding sources for solid waste research and management programs are available to state and local governments, the general public, and small businesses.

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Solid Waste Management Program , manages four programs that provide grants and loans to support solid waste management and recycling projects.
- The Missouri Market Development Fund is used to develop markets for recovered materials.
- Solid Waste Management District Grants provide funds to fund implement projects the Districts have identified in their solid waste management to help fund local city and county waste management projects.
- Waste Reduction and Recycling Targeted Project grants provide funding for waste reduction and recycling projects that complement solid waste management program priorities.
- Waste Tire Playground Cover and Surfacing Grants are available for the cost and delivery of waste tire material for playgrounds, running tracks, walking trails, or other surfacing projects.
The
Iowa Department of Natural Resources Waste Management Program ,
provides a range of competitive grant and loan programs to encourage implementation
of innovative waste reduction and recycling techniques, develop markets
for recyclable materials and products, and encourage the adoption of the
best waste management practices. The programs are:

- Regional Collection Center Establishment Grant Program (RCC)
- Toxic Cleanup Day Grant Program (TCD)
- Household Hazardous Materials General Awareness Grant Program
- Retailer's Consumer Education Grant Program (RCEP)

The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality , has four Integrated Waste Planning and Aid Programs:
- The Illegal Dumpsite Cleanup Program is a cleanup program which provides funding assistance to political subdivisions, for the cleanup of solid waste disposed of along public roadways or ditches.
- The Landfill Disposal Fee Rebate Program was created as an incentive to political subdivisions to support and encourage the purchasing of products, materials, or supplies which are manufactured or produced from recycled material.
- The Litter Reduction and Recycling Grant Program provide funds to support programs to reduce litter, provide education, and promote recycling.
- The Waste Reduction and Recycling Incentive Grants Program provide grants to assist in financing sound integrated waste management programs and projects including recycling, composting, waste reduction, waste exchange, household hazardous waste programs, solid waste disposal facilities’ consolidation, transfer stations, and incineration for energy recovery.
The Nebraska Environmental Trust Fund’s , current focus areas include on the development of recycling markets and reduction of solid waste volume and toxicity. Areas of focus will be re-evaluated in 2005.
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment , provides grants to assist with the implementation and enhancement of local and regional solid waste projects. Grants are used to fund the development and operation of recycling, source reduction, waste minimization and solid waste management, household hazardous waste, conditionally exempt small quantity generator waste and public education programs. The following programs have been established:
