Description

In alignment with DHHS leadership, the Clinical Center has placed a high priority on making its programs and systems Year 2000 (Y2K) compliant. These efforts include risk ranking possible failure scenarios, completing an inventory and validation process
of all major IT systems and the biomedical inventory, developing hospital-wide contingency plans, and developing a staffing plan with activities for Day 1 and beyond.

Accomplishments-to-Date

  • Initiation of inventory of biomedical equipment (100% compliant)
  • All mission critical information systems have passed independent verification and validation (100% compliant)
  • Initiated business continuity and contingency planning for all Clinical Center departments
  • Developed Day 1 staffing plan; hospital-wide contingency planning underway
  • Replaced non-compliant equipment and systems
  • Plans communicated to Assistant Secretary for Management and Budget, DHHS

FY2000 Goals

  • Uninterrupted Clinical Center operations and smooth transition into year 2000
