Ben Lomond Trail length is 4.8 miles, rated difficulty is hard, time to hike is 7 hours to Ben Lomond Peak and 8 hours to Chips Lake, and elevation changes from 2,300 to 6,450 feet. Trail head is located at Chips Creek on Hwy 70, approximately 25 miles west of Quincy. There's a spectacular view at the top.
Indian Springs Trail length is 6.5 miles, rated difficulty is hard, and
time to hike is 5 to 6 hours to Indian Springs. Trail head is located
at the Ely Stamp Mill rest area, across from Belden, approximately 25
miles west of Quincy on Hwy 70. There are great campsites along the way.
Yellow Creek Trail length is 1.4 miles, rated difficulty is easy, and
time to hike is 1 1/2 hours to Indian Springs. Trail head is located to
the right of the Ely Stamp Mill rest area, across from Belden, approximately
25 miles west of Quincy on hwy 70. This is an enjoyable day hike that
ends in a box canyon.
Chambers Creek Trail length is 4.2 miles, rated difficulty is Moderate,
and time to hike is 2 to 3 hours to bridge and 6 hours to the top. Trail
head is located across from Indian Jim school, approximately 40 miles
from Quincy on Hwy 70. There are beautiful waterfalls at bridge.
From Quincy travel 4 miles on the Bucks Lake Road to Slate Creek Road and turn left. Travel 8.8 miles past Deanes Valley campground to ridge top. Look for road signs and take the left fork (Forest Road #23N99) and travel 1.5 miles to trail signs for Oddie and No Ear Bar trails. The McCarthy Bar trail head is to the left of sign and 1 mile further. 4-wheel drive is recommended.
No Ear Trail length is 1.5 miles, rated difficulty is Strenuous, and time to hike is 1.5 hours in and 2 to 3 hours out. Campsites are few and there is a 1500 foot decent to the river where fishing is good.
Oddie Bar length is 1.3 miles, rated difficulty is Strenuous, and time to hike is 1 hour to river and 3 hours out.
McCarthy Bar Trail length is 1.7 miles, rated difficulty is Strenuous, and time to hike is 1.5 hours in and 2.5 hours out. Campsites are few, fishing is good, and the views are beautiful.
Through Quincy heading east, go 3.9 miles to La Porte Rd turn off. Turn right drive 7.3 miles, make a right turn onto graveled road (23N92). Sign states Lost Cabin Springs and Middle Fork Trails. Proceed 2.1 miles to "Y", take left fork (23N92A) for 1 mile to Lost Cabin Springs. Follow signing here to railheads. 4-wheel drive is recommended.
Lost Cabin Springs Trail length is 0.8 miles, rated difficulty is Strenuous and Very Steep (Caution: Watch your footing!), and time to hike is 45 minutes in and 1.5 hours out.
Bachs Creek Trail length is 2.4 miles, rated difficulty is Strenuous and Very Steep (Caution: Watch your footing!), and time to hike is 1.5 hours in and 3 hours out.
From Quincy go west 9.2 miles on Bucks Lake Rd, Turn right on graveled road (24N29X). Note: Silver Lake sign. Proceed 6.4 miles to campground and lake. There is approximately 2 miles of the PCT in the Bucks Lake Wilderness.
Gold Lake Trail head is located at Silver Lake Campground. Trail length
is 1.5 miles, rated difficulty is Easy, and time to hike is 30 minutes.
Swimming and fishing at the lake. Campsites are limited. This trail accesses
the Bucks Lake Wilderness and the Pacific Crest Trail.
Granite Gap Trail head junction marked by a sign on Gold Lake Trail.
Trail length is 0.9 miles, rated difficulty is Easy and Steep, and time
to hike is 30 minutes. Accesses Mud Lake, Rock Lake, and the PCT, where
Granite Gap terminates. Campsites located at Mud Lake. Campsites are limited
at Rock Lake
Mill Creek Trail head is located approximately 1/2 mile west of Whitehorse
Campground on the Bucks Lake Road, near the Bucks Creek parking area.
Trail follows the northeast shore of Bucks Lake. Trail length is 5.5 miles,
rated difficulty is Moderate, and time to hike is 3 hours. RECOMMENDED
for horses. Motor Vehicles PROHIBITED.
Right Hand Branch of Mill Creek - Trail leaves the Mill Creek trail on
the northeast shore of Bucks Lake. Trail length is 6 miles, rated difficulty
is Moderate, and time to hike is 3 hours.
Three Lakes Trail head is located at Lower Three Lakes. A narrow, very
rough road with turnouts leads 13 miles from Lower Bucks Lake the trail
head. Trail length is 1 mile, rated difficulty is Moderate, and time to
hike is 1hour. RECOMMENDED for horses. Motor Vehicles PROHIBITED.
Three Lakes PCT Tie Trail utilizes the above mentioned access and trail
head. Trail length is 0.5 mile and rated difficulty is Easy. RECOMMENDED
for horses. Motor Vehicles PROHIBITED.
The main road to the Grizzly Forebay Trail head goes past Lower Bucks
Lake. It is a pleasant jaunt extending along the north shore of Grizzly
Forebay to the inlet of Grizzly creek. There are a few short, steep pitches
along the trail. Trail length is 1 1/4 mile.
NOT RECOMMENDED for horses. Motor vehicles PROHIBITED.
Grizzly Forebay Gauging Station Trail head parking is at the Forebay Trail trail head. The trail leaves the road west of the parking area descending to the dam and descending gradually 1/3 mile to the Stream Gauging Station. NOT RECOMMENDED for horses. Motor vehicles PROHIBITED.
Bucks Summit Trail head is located at Bucks Summit on the Bucks Lake
Rd. This trail is a loop trail. It is an excellent cross country skiing
trail in the winter and a good horse trail in the summer. Trail length
is 5 miles, rated difficulty is Easy, and time to hike is 2.5 hours.
Trail head is located right before the dam at Antelope Lake on the Genesee Rd. This trail is in excellent horse trail with a corral located at the trail head. The trail will take you through meadows and you will cross creeks, but most of he time you will travel through a forested area. This you reach the top it will open up and offer spectacular views. This trail connects with the Middle Creek and the Cold Stream trails. Trail length is 10 miles, rated difficulty is Easy to Moderate, and time to hike is 4 to 5 hours.
Trail head is located 2 miles south of Antelope Lake on the Genesee Rd. Trail length is 2.5 miles, rated difficulty is Easy to Moderate, and time to hike is 1.5 hours one way.
Middle Creek Trail head is located 71/2 miles south of Antelope Lake
on the Genesee Rd, just past the Hungry Creek Rd. turnoff. Trail length
is 5.5 miles, rated difficulty is Easy to Moderate, and time to hike is
2.5 hours one way. This trail winds through mostly virgin country. You
will see beautiful meadows along the way, and in the fall the aspen trees
are a ~ril1iant yellow. Fishing in Hungry Creek and Middle Creek is good.
This trail is an excellent horse trail.
This accessible fishing trail is located in the Long Point Campground at Antelope Lake. This trail is wheelchair accessible. A cement path leads to a picnic area and a fishing dock. There is an accessible restroom and drinking fountain along the trail.
Trail head is located near the parking area at Round Valley Lake. Trail length is 1 miles, rated difficulty is Easy to Moderate, and time to hike is 30 minutes.
Trail head is located at Lone Rock Campground. This trail provides an opportunity to learn about the wildlife in the area. Trail length is 0.25 miles and is rated difficulty is Easy.
The trail head is located at the PG&E Powerhouse on the Caribou Rd. From Hwy 70 take the Caribou Rd travel 8 miles to the powerhouse. This trail provides fishing access to the North Fork of the Feather River.
The Pacific Crest Trail is one of the most scenic trails in America. It spans 2,650 miles from Mexico to Canada. About 70 miles of the trail stretch across the Plumas National Forest, with elevations ranging from 2,400 to 7,000 feet. On the Mt. Hough District the PCT can be accessed at Belden in the Feather River Canyon, and at Bucks Summit on the Bucks Lake Road. PCT.org
