TVA's new Environmental Information Center provides a single source for answers to questions about shoreline land use, permitting procedures, water quality, recreation, and other issues related to the environment.

Clean Air Program

TVA invests in state-of-the-art technology to reduce emissions of sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides from its coal-fired plants. Watch a video to learn more about how this equipment helps clean the air and reduce the impact of TVA’s operations on the environment.

2007 Environmental Performance Update:

Bat and Bird Mortality Studies at Buffalo Mountain Windfarm

Environmental Management System

The Environmental Management System helps TVA reduce environmental risks by standardizing practices and promoting continuous improvement. As part of the EMS, TVA has established a set of indicators that enable it to measure its progress and set goals for improvement. A selection of these indicators is used to compile the Environmental Impact Index, a snapshot of TVA’s overall environmental performance.

More public power distributors have joined TVA’s renewable-energy program and can now offer it to their customers. TVA’s generation facilities include 15 solar sites, a methane-gas source, and a wind farm. Find out all about the program and how you can participate.
