Our Document Delivery Services Department allows remote library patrons to request copies. of journal articles, conference proceedings, historical documents, or many other documents housed at the Linda Hall Library. We are committed to filling every in-scope, properly cited request within 24-48 hours. Requests are processed during the local working hours of 8 am – 5 pm, U. S. Central Time, Monday through Friday. We charge a cost recovery fee to help defray the costs of providing this service.

Warning Concerning Copyright Restrictions

The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted materials.

Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One specified condition is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research." If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement.

Document Delivery

Non-academic requesters pay a cost recovery fee. Fees for academic requesters are set at a lower rate which is partially subsidized by the library.

Add 25¢ for each page over 50 pages.

Color Copies
Color copies are available upon request for an additional $1.00 per page.

Additional Services

Search Service
The Linda Hall Library Search Service specializes in the identification of materials on a topic. The Search Service is a cost recovery service that provides more extensive searching of the technical and scientific literature than can be provided by Document Services or our basic Reference Services. Please refer to our Reference Services page for more information on this service.
