The Shipman Award is given annually in memory of Joseph C. Shipman, the first director of the Linda Hall Library of Science, Engineering & Technology. Each year, to honor Mr. Shipman's legacy of devotion to science, a cash award is given to a student whose mastery of scientific writing is demonstrated in a paper or science project. This year the award was granted to a student who makes excellent use of the scientific literature and showed a skilled presentation of the literature in the context of a science fair project.
