Help us continue to track Florida's biodiversity

As an office of the Florida State University Institute of Science and Public Affairs, the Florida Natural Areas Inventory is eligible to receive donations via the Florida State University Foundation.

The Florida Natural Areas Inventory is dedicated to gathering, interpreting, and disseminating information critical to the conservation of Florida's biological diversity. Inventory staff continually build and maintain a comprehensive database of the biological resources of Florida, which now includes more than 28,000 element occurrences of rare plants, rare animals, and high-quality natural communities. The Inventory also serves as the primary source for information on Florida's conservation lands. The Inventory database includes GIS boundaries and statistics for more than 1,400 federal, state, local, and private managed areas. The database also includes information on Florida Forever environmental land acquisition projects.

All of this information is used to provide public agencies, private firms, non-profit organizations, schools, and citizens from around the state and nation the best-available objective, science-based information for public decision-making and education. The Inventory is not a government regulatory agency; we are funded through contracts with a variety of agencies to conduct field surveys, analyze data, and provide information and expertise on the natural resources of Florida.

Your contribution will help fund the core mission of the Inventory to collect new information about occurrences of rare species and natural communities throughout the state. If you are interested in making a tax-deductible donation, please contact Gary Knight, FNAI Director, at (850) 224-8207, ext. 213, for more information.

We appreciate your support.
