Indiana National Guard trains unit in agriculture for Afghan mission.... more of the story...

Professor George VanScoyoc explains the different soils at the Agronomy Research and Education Center to the Indiana National Guard members who are having intensive training in Indiana agricultural practices. 

 

 

The 28-member unit will deploy to Afghanistan in February after training in soil assessment, irrigation, crop production and pest management, livestock management, food storage, marketing and nutrition.

Congratulations to:

Agronomy Administrative/Professional Staff will be honored on January 22 at noon in the North Ballroom of the Purdue Memorial Union.  Those honored at the annual Provost Recognition luncheon will be:  Jim Beaty, 30 years; Phil Hess, 30 years; Suzanne Cunningham, 25 years; Premachandra, 15 years, and Phil DeVillez for 10 years.  Congratulations to you all for your years of service.

Thank You.....to all of the Agronomy students, staff, and faculty for donating 270 pounds of food plus $120.00 to the local Food Finders Food Bank!  Our community will appreciate all the generosity that you have given to those who are struggling to make ends meet in these difficult times.  Also, with our silent auction at the faculty and staff recognition event, we donated over $450.00 to the local Salvation Army.  Good job Agronomy!
