2008-2009 College & University Green Power Challenge

Throughout the 2008-09 academic year, EPA’s Green Power Partnership will track and recognize the collegiate athletic conferences with the highest combined green power purchases in the nation. The Green Power Challenge is open to all U.S. colleges, universities, and conferences. To be listed, a conference must have an aggregate green power purchase of at least 10 million kWh across the conference. All purchasers must be Green Power Partners in good standing.

In the spring 2009, EPA will conclude the Green Power Challenge and recognize participating institutions as 2008-09 EPA Green Power Challenge Champions in two separate categories:

  1. Champion Green Power Conference – compares the collective purchases between athletic conferences, recognizing the largest collective purchase among eligible conferences
  2. Individual Conference Champions – compares the eligible green power purchasing between institutions in an athletic conference, recognizing the largest individual institutional purchaser

How can my institution get involved?

Schools interested in taking part in the 2008-2009 College & University Green Power Challenge can start by purchasing green power and partnering with EPA. For more information please visit the Join Us Web page, or contact Blaine Collison (collison.blaine@epa.gov) at 202-343-9139.

This list is current as of October 8, 2008. The next update to the 2008-09 College & University Green Power Challenge is scheduled for January 2009.
