Partner Profile The University of Iowa is using biomass instead of coal for 18 percent of the fuel consumed at the university's power plant and its Oakdale heating plant. In 2007, the University used oat hulls to generate 10 million kWh of electricity, which represents three percent of the power consumption on campus. The oat hulls were obtained from the Quaker Oats facility in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. |
