Partner Profile Northwestern University joined the EPA Green Power Partnership in 2006 by purchasing renewable energy certificates (RECs) to cover 20 percent of the campus's power needs. The University's purchase of 40,000 MWh ranks among the largest college and university purchases in the nation. Northwestern decided to purchase clean, renewable power to further its commitment to environmental sustainability.
