Neuro, Aquatic and Cellular Toxicology/Epidemiology Graduate Students receive the Ph.D. in Toxicology. The Neurotoxicology Track provides training in molecular mechanisms of action of toxicants (insecticides, heavy metals) and toxins on the brain and other targets; the Aquatic Toxicology Track provides training in pathobiology, immunotoxicology, and mechanisms of toxicity of Pfisteria and other toxins and heavy metals, and in non-mammalian models of toxicity; the Cell Injury and Carcinogenesis Track provides training in the action of free radicals, calcium homeostasis, mechanisms of lead and dioxin toxicities, estrogen biosynthesis and carcinogenesis; the Molecular Epidemiology Track provides training in search for biomarkers and correlation to environmental exposures and diseases. Collaborative research is also available with scientists of the NIH, EPA, FDA, Naval Research Lab and U. S. Army. E-mail contact: ealbuque@umaryland.edu |
