Harvard School of Public Health The program offers training in two tracks: Environmental and Occupational Epidemiology, and Environmental Molecular Epidemiology. Predoctoral students in the environmental and occupational track take courses in epidemiology, exposure assessment, biostatistics, occupational health, toxicology, biomarkers, molecular biology, and genetics. Experience in methodology of epidemiologic research is provided through tutorials on current problems in epidemiology. The track in molecular epidemiology emphasizes the application of molecular genetic techniques to environmental epidemiologic research. The general focus of the training program is on environmental determinants of common diseases, and on gene environment interactions. Faculty preceptors are members of the NIEHS-sponsored Environmental and Occupational Health Center, as well as in other programs and departments including Epidemiology, Environmental Health, Biostatistics, Cancer Cell Biology, Nutrition, and at the Harvard Medical School.
