The training program represents a partnership between the Departments of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (http://biochemistry.louisville.edu/) Exit NIEHS and Pharmacology and Toxicology (http://louisville.edu/medschool/pharmacology/) Exit NIEHS. Initial student recruitment and funding for predoctoral trainees is provided by the University of Louisville School of Medicine Integrated Programs in Biomedical Sciences (http://ipibs.louisville.edu/) Exit NIEHS recruitment gateway, with support through this training program beginning in the second year. A core curriculum provides an interdisciplinary academic foundation in biochemistry and molecular biology, pharmacology and toxicology, cell biology, genetics, epidemiology, biostatistics, research methods and bioethics. Trainees rotate through faculty laboratories to receive interdisciplinary research training and to select dissertation research projects focusing on four areas of environmental health research: environmental genomics; basic mechanisms of environmental insult; reproductive health; and environmental cardiology.
