The Industrial Waste Program's
Rewards and Recognition Program

Each year, the Industrial Waste Program recognizes significant industrial users of the sewer system that have maintained an excellent record of compliance with rules and regulations for the previous calendar year. Winners receive their awards in April during King County Earth Month. Every other year the program's EnvirOvation Award winners are eligible to be nominated for a King County Green Globe Award.

EnvirOvation Award
The King County Industrial Waste Program's EnvirOvation Award is given to one or more companies that have:
  • voluntarily implemented an innovative pollution prevention strategy,
  • significantly updated their pretreatment equipment or methods,
  • significantly reduced the amount of wastes being discharged to King County sewers,
  • significantly reduced their water use.
  • or shown leadership in helping other companies comply with industrial pretreatment regulations.
There were no 2007 EnvirOvation Award winners.

The nomination process for the EnvirOvation award. Apply or nominate for this year's EnvirOvation Award, applications due December 15.

Winners of 2007 Commitment-to-Compliance, Gold and Silver Awards
(Awarded in 2008 and listed here throughout that year and first quarter of 2009. 2008 awardees will be listed second quarter of 2009.)

TheCommitment-to-Compliance Award honors companies that have received a Gold Certificate for five consecutive years.

To win a Gold Certificate, a company must have discharged wastewater during a minimum of twelve months of the calendar year from at least one of its sites and have no violations of any kind (discharge, permit, ordinance, reporting, self-monitoring, or King County monitoring).

The Silver Certificate recognizes companies that have had no King County monitoring violations, but have had a limited number of self-monitoring violations.
