NCVRW Community Awareness Projects
(Awards for 2007)

OVC helps communities conduct public awareness initiatives during NCVRW with funding support for Community Awareness Projects (CAPs).

For 2007, the National Association of VOCA Assistance Administrators (NAVAA) has competitively selected the 64 communities to receive CAP support from OVC. The 64 communities selected are public agencies, nonprofit programs, community-based victim service organizations, faith-based organizations, and community coalitions.

For more information on this initiative, projects supported in previous years, and tips for promoting community awareness, visit Community Awareness Projects: Raising Public Awareness of NCVRW. Find ideas for your own commemorative activities by viewing the 2007 CAP Project summaries.

Attorney General's Crime Victims' Service Awards

OVC annually recognizes individuals and organizations that demonstrate outstanding service in supporting victims and victim services. The award recipients, who are selected from public nominations in eight categories, are extraordinary individuals and programs that provide services to victims of crime. The honorees are announced just before National Crime Victims' Rights Week commences.

The 2008 award recipients were announced on April 11, 2008. View the award recipients' photos and biographies, and pictures from the awards ceremony.

The new Crime Victims' Service Award Web site. In 2007, OVC launched an online service to make it easier for the public to nominate individuals and organizations for the awards. With the service award Web site, you may complete and submit nominations entirely online. Visit the Web site to find—

  • Helpful information on award guidelines.
  • Answers to frequent questions.
