Fiddlin' Foresters complete successful Centennial Tour - My Impressions.   By Lynn Young
(.pdf 139kb), (December 31, 2005- Buffalo, Wyoming) As the 2005 Centennial Year comes to a close, so does the year-long Centennial Tour of the Fiddlin' Foresters.  The fantastic year included so many highlights and wonderful adventures, and the Fiddlin' Foresters were able to enhance the 100 year milestone for the U.S. Forest Service.

Stanislaus National Forest celebrates Centennial
(.pdf 338kb), (October 15, 2005- Sonora, CA) - "Celebrate Your National Forests: The First 100 Years," was the name of the huge Centennial Celebration planned by the Stanislaus National Forest in Sonora, CA.. Art exhibits, a film festival, food, children's activities, live music and displays about national forests were featured.

Roots of forestry grow in Western North Carolina
(.pdf 190kb), (October 8, 2005) – Asheville, North Carolina – The Bent Creek Experimental Forest and the Southern Research Station sponsored a wonderful celebration the grounds the historic experimental forest near Asheville.

Foresters kick off Campaign
(.pdf 149kb), (October 4, 2005) - Washington D.C. - The Fiddlin' Foresters were honored to be asked to kick off the Combined Federal Champaign (CFC) for the U.S. Department of Agriculture at their headquarters in Washington DC. The CFC is the charitable fund-raising program of the Federal Government. CFC in the National Capitol Area raises millions of dollars for all kinds of charities. This year there was a special emphasis on victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Retirees celebrate the people of the Forest Service
(.pdf 190kb), (September 8, 2005) – Portland, Oregon – Over 1100 Forest Service retirees attended the Centennial Celebration Reunion in Portland, Oregon September 4 – 9. The Forest Service National Leadership team, the Office of Communication, and the New Century of Service committee had concurrent meetings and joined the retirees for a Fiddlin’ Foresters performance at a huge banquet on Thursday evening.

Forest Service fiddles at timberline
(.pdf 122kb), (September 7, 2005) - Mount Hood, Oregon – The great Timberline Lodge perched at timberline on Mount Hood was the site of a wonderful Forest Service Centennial Celebration on Wednesday, September 7. The Fiddlin’ Foresters performed a Centennial program for about 150 Mount Hood National Forest employees, retirees and lodge guests.

San Bernardino National Forest Hosts Birthday Bash
(.pdf 183kb), (August 27, 2005) – Big Bear Lake, California - The San Bernardino National Forest and the Big Bear Discovery Center hosted a Centennial concert by the Fiddlin’ Foresters on Saturday evening, August 27. The event recognized the contributions of 100 years of the Forest Service and of the partnership between the Forest and the Big Bear Discovery Center.

Yoopers Celebrate Centennial
(August 16, 2005) – Escanaba, Michigan - The Ottawa and Hiawatha National Forests celebrated the Forest Service Centennial at the UP State Fair in the upper peninsula of Michigan. A special day was designated at the fair to recognize the contributions of national forest and the Forest Service to their community.

Helena National Forest Celebrates Bicentennial and Centennial
(July 14, 2005) – Helena, Montana - The Fiddlin’ Foresters joined the Helena National Forest for four days of festivities celebrating the Lewis and Clark Bicentennial and the Forest Service Centennial. The activities included concerts, dedications, picnics, boat trips, hikes, and community and family gatherings.

Lassen and Eldorado Forests Celebrate
(June 15, 2005) – Susanville, CA - The Lassen National Forest in northern California celebrated the Forest Service Centennial with a huge all-day event that included historic re-enactors, displays, food, fun and music.  Employees got a chance to learn about the history of the Lassen National Forest and the Forest Service, talk about the importance of public land and conservation and discuss the challenges ahead for national forest management.  The activities took place at the Lassen County Fairgrounds in Susanville.

The San Juan NF is 100 Years Old
(June 4, 2005) – Durango, Colorado - The San Juan National Forest celebrated its 100th birthday at the same time they celebrated the Forest Service Centennial, June 2 – 4. The huge celebration included concerts, displays, exhibits, lectures, and a parade through downtown Durango, Colorado.

New employees get the message
(April 15, 2005) – Sacramento, California - More than 700 new Forest Service employees heard the Fiddlin’ Foresters messages at the national New Employees Orientation, at the Sacramento Convention Center. For the third consecutive year the Fiddlin’ Foresters sang of history, future challenges and proud traditions of the agency.

Gallatin Celebrates Centennial
(March 29, 2005) – Bozeman, Montana - Employees of the Gallatin National Forest celebrated the Forest Service’s 100th birthday by hosting a fun-filled all-employee day in Bozeman, Montana on March 29. Forest Supervisor Becky Heath set the stage for the day of celebration by recounting the year’s accomplishments and looking to the challenges of the future.

Fiddlin' Foresters Sing for Safety
(March 23, 2005) – Albuquerque, New Mexico - The Fiddlin’ Foresters provided conservation and safety messages as part of the Forest Service National Safety Convention at the Hilton Hotel in Albuquerque, NM.

Southern Leaders Celebrate Centennial
(March 8, 2005) – Nashville, Tennessee - The Fiddlin’ Foresters participated in the Southern Region Centennial line officers meeting on March 8. Regional Forester Bob Jacobs hosted the celebration of Rangers, Forest Supervisors and others from the 13 southern states and the regional office in Atlanta.

Fiddlin' Foresters Help Provide Tribute to Firefighters
(February 27, 2005) – Nashville, TN - The Fiddlin' Foresters were honored to be featured at the awards luncheon at the Forest Service Centennial Congress, which commemorated 100 years of conservation, assessed current challenges and opportunities, and initiated a dialogue for the 21st Century to meet the needs of present and future generations.

Fiddlin' Foresters appear at Centennial Congress
(January 6, 2005) – Washington, D.C - The Fiddlin' Foresters were honored to be part of the welcome party banquet for the opening of the huge National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) 30th Annual Convention and Sports Show at the famous Opryland Hotel in Nashville. At the banquet over 3000 participants were treated to an inspirational evening of music and fun which included a tribute to wildland firefighters.
