Fiddlin' Foresters appear at Centennial Congress

Washington , D.C: The Fiddlin' Foresters were honored to be featured at the awards luncheon at the Forest Service Centennial Congress, which commemorated 100 years of conservation, assessed current challenges and opportunities, and initiated a dialogue for the 21st Century to meet the needs of present and future generations.

The 2005 Centennial Congress convened Congressional leaders, representatives from agency partners and interests, leading academicians, select state and local government representatives, key governors, media leaders and Forest Service leaders to honor the creation of the U.S. Forest Service and to provide a contemporary focus for the future.

The Forest Service proud history began in 1905 with Gifford Pinchot as Chief . The 2005 Centennial Congress is one of many events that will commemorate 100 years of conservation. The Fiddlin' Foresters will appear at many of these events (see schedule).

New Century of Service is a way of working that combines past traditions and core values with new thinking and a fresh spirit of service. 

It offers a forum to encourage and share new ways of doing our work and building relationships so we can improve the health and vitality of the land

Fiddlin' Foresters provide musical conservation messages to the prestigious 2005 Centennial Congress in Washington, D.C.

Chief Bosworth introduced the Fiddlin' Foresters saying, "These folks exemplify the spirit of Forest Service employees throughout the country. I am proud to be associated with those employees."

The current senior leadership of the Forest Service takes time to pose for an historic picture 100 years after the creation of the Forest Service

The Fiddlin' Foresters provided the conservation leaders with conservation messages and challenged the group to lay the foundation for the leaders of the next 100 years.

The attendees of the Centennial Congress were also treated to the premier of The Greatest Good, a moving two hour documentary about the history of the Forest Service.
