Steven L. Arxer, Ph.D. in Sociology (University of Florida),is Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of North Texas at Dallas. His interests include social theory, qualitative research, the intersections of race/class/gender/sexuality/aging, and globalization. He has authored a range of articles and chapters on how globalization has reconfigured the educational landscape as well as the social experience of aging. Other work has used ethnographic methods to document the social construction of hegemonic masculine templates among social actors. His work has been published in Qualitative Sociology Review, Societies Without Borders, Tamara: Journal of Critical Postmodern Organization Science, and Humanity & Society. Most recently his research was published in the Journal of Latinos and Educaiton, which focuses on the theme of emotions in second langauge acquisition among Latino immigrants. He has also co-edited a volume titled The Symbolism of Globalization, Development, and Aging, which examines how the social imagery linked with globalization shapes perspectives on aging and development. Currently, he is co-authoring a book on Aging in a Second Language and co-editing a book on Dimensions of Community-Based Projects in Health Care.
