How do I log into AKO using my CAC?
Before trying to log into AKO using your CAC, please make sure your CAC is registered with your AKO account. For instructions on how to register your CAC with the AKO portal Click Here.
How to log into AKO with your CAC:
- Go to https://www.us.army.mil/
- Click the I Accept button
- Select the CAC/PIV Login tab
- Click the Sign in button
- Select your ID Certificate, if requested. This can be identified by your Identity certificate (appearing as "DoD CA-XX"). Selecting your Email certificate will cause authentication to fail and you will have to close your browser before attempting to log into an AKO SSO protected system.
- Click OK
- Enter your CAC PIN. If you have already logged into your local computer using your CAC PIN, AKO may not require any of this information, as it would be stored locally by your CAC Authentication software.
- The system will validate your ID Certificate and log you into the AKO portal.
How do I find out if I am CAC logged in?
If you are CAC logged in, it will read "This information system is approved for UNCLASSIFIED/FOUO data" at the top of the page.
New CAC?
If you have been issued a new CAC, you will need to register your new CAC with AKO before you are able to log in with it. For instructions on how to register your newly-issued CAC, Click Here.
