Mandate

Motor Carrier Permits and Development (MCPD) enhance public safety, protect infrastructure and promote the economy by developing, issuing and administering the permitting and railway enforcement programs.

Activities

Motor Carrier Permits and Development (MCPD) develop, issue, and administer oversize and overweight permit policies; collect single trip, fuel tax, permit, and authority fees. MCPD also assists in the development and implementation of the annual MIT Spring Road Restrictions Program and maintains the automated routing and permitting system (ARPS) and delivery of the TPIF program. In addition, MCPD provides a comprehensive safety program for monitoring and regulating the performance of short line intra-provincial railways.

Incident Report Form for Permitted Vehicles

Permit holders must immediately report any traffic incidents that are of significant nature (collision, vehicle upset, personal injury or death) to Manitoba Infrastructure, using the Incident Report Form for Permitted Vehicles (PDF, 170 KB). Please email or fax your completed form to Permit Services within 48 hours of the incident.

New Truck Weight Limit Map and Information Guide Available:

The Motor Carrier Division is pleased to announce that the Manitoba Truck Weight Limit Map and Information Guide is now available to the public through Canada Map Sales. The map and guide is available in two formats – a book format and a wall map format. The book format is designed for drivers and the wall map is perfect for the office or for dispatch. Notice of Regulatory Amendments affecting Vehicle Weights and Dimensions Regulation:

In June of 2014, amendments were made to the Vehicle Weights and Dimensions on Classes of Highway Regulation (MR 575/88). This regulation sets out the permissible weights and dimensions for commercial motor vehicles travelling on Manitoba roads. Information on the amendments (PDF, 46KB) are available on this website.

Please be advised that the Motor Carrier Permits and Development (MCPD) office will be closed the second Wednesday of every month, between the hours of 10:00 AM and 11:30 AM. Changing the Designation of Non-RTAC Vehicles

Manitoba is considering removing the non-RTAC designation from the Vehicle Weights and Dimensions on Classes of Highways Regulation (MR 575/88). Motor Carrier Division wants to inform owner/operators of non-RTAC vehicles about potential regulatory changes and discover how this might affect them.
