Office of Legislation

What We Do

The Office of Legislation, U. S. Department of Transportation, serves as legislative counsel to the Office of the Secretary in all modes of Transportation.  Its areas of responsibility include:

  • Departmental legislation to be transmitted to Congress
  • Departmental analysis of legislation pending before Congress
  • Departmental analysis of legislation under consideration in the Administration
  • Confirmation hearings of the Secretary, Deputy Secretary and General Counsel
  • Departmental testimony to be given by Departmental witnesses before Congressional Committees
  • Departmental analysis of testimony to be given by Administration witnesses before Congressional Committees
  • Executive Orders
  • Presidential Memoranda
  • Proclamations
