The Indiana National Guard sets new precedents with its partners

INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana’s Adjutant General, Maj. Gen. Courtney P. Carr, visited Slovakia for the first time as the leader of the Indiana National Guard earlier this month.

Carr’s visit coincided with exchanges between the Indiana National Guard and the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic during the month of September that set new precedents in scope and scale.

Reassurance partners, Indiana and Slovakia exchange forces.

INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana and Slovakia continued their longstanding military and enduring strategic partnership as part of the National Guard’s State Partnership program.

In September, approximately 120 Hoosier Guardsmen traveled to Military Training Area Lešť in Slovakia to participate in Slovak Shield that helped contribute to NATO’s European Reassurance Initiative. In return more than 70 Slovakian soldiers arrived here in Indiana.

Slovak troops arrive in Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS – More than 70 soldiers with the Slovak Armed Forces arrived in Indiana Monday.

The soldiers will participate in Indiana National Guard exercises to familiarize themselves with U.S. tactics, techniques and procedures. They will also see first-hand the potent and myriad training capabilities at Camp Atterbury and Muscatatuck Urban Training Center.

Indiana National Guard receives Special Forces unit

INDIANAPOLIS – Maj. Gen. Courtney P. Carr is pleased to announce that the Indiana National Guard will be the new home of a highly-trained and specialized Special Forces unit.

Beginning Sept. 1, 2016, soldiers with Company A, 2/20th Special Forces Group can officially call the Hoosier State their home. The unit is currently stationed in Chicago.
