Family Resilience Program

The Family Resilience program provides educational materials to help educate family members on how to cope with the stress of deployment, recognize signs and symptoms of mental health problems, build resilience, reconnect with children and access behavioral health services.

Service members and their families face unique challenges in their daily lives, such as frequent moves, deployment and stress. To help military families cope with these challenges, the Family Resilience program provides kits of educational materials to help educate family members on how to cope with the stress of deployment, recognize signs and symptoms of mental health problems, build resilience, reconnect with children and access behavioral health services.

Family readiness groups (FRGs), chaplains, family resource center staff, assistance centers and other military family support personnel are encouraged to register for this year’s Family Resilience kit – “Family First: Supporting Wellness on the Homefront.” Our hope is that the resources included in the kit will help facilitate dialogue within the military community about mental health with a special focus on the unique stressors and challenges of being a military family.

Family Resilience Kit includes:

  • Materials for 250 people
  • Educational materials addressing mood and anxiety disorders (such as posttraumatic stress disorder and depression), alcohol use, resilience and helping children cope
  • Resources for military teens and their families
  • Promotional materials including posters and wallet cards that direct participants to additional resources available on the National Center for Telehealth and Technology (T2) website (t2health.dcoe.mil)
  • Educational materials for children to help build resilience and cope with stressors associated with military life. Included are materials from the award-winning T2 program, Military Kids Connect® and the Sesame Street for Military Families program
