Nicotine dependence is an addiction to tobacco products caused by the drug nicotine. Someone who is nicotine-dependent is not able to discontinue use even though continued use is causing health problems. Smoke from cigarettes, cigars and pipes contain thousands of chemicals, including nicotine. Smokeless tobacco also contains nicotine. Smokers have significantly higher rates of heart disease, stroke and cancer.

The Tobacco Assessment, and each of the related assessments below, takes about five minutes to complete; recommendations follow based on your results.
