- On the ramp from West 114 to North 121 two lanes just become one. No... signs for which lane is ending. Twice I have been run off the road there. There used to be signs that the left lane is ending merge right and arrows on the left lane pointing to merge right. These have all been removed. Why? This is located just north of DFW Airport. - Good Afternoon, TXDOT staff. I am a resident of San Angelo, TX, and ...it is my understanding in speaking with a local city official that TXDOT is responsible for maintaining our Loop 306 and some of the surrounding grassy sides and medians. Recently, those grassy areas were mowed, and it seems quite a large number of people have, in fact, "Messed with Texas." Is there any reason why these areas haven't had proper litter control up to this point to prevent such an eyesore? We're talking almost every square foot of grass covered in plastic bags, trash bags, buckets, mattresses (no kidding), and other debris. It goes on for miles *through* our otherwise beautiful city. I have inquired via our local government's facebook page about a possible consideration of a ban or fee for using plastic bags for the sake of prevention, since change begins with our citizens, but do you know when we might see better litter control/clean-up come our way? Thank you! See More
The Amarillo District of the Texas Department of Transportation banded together this holiday season to help make Christmas a little brighter for 47 kids at The Children's Home in Amarillo. The district delivered the gifts yesterday (12/17/...14) in time for Christmas. Shown here are the district volunteers who delivered the gifts and coordinated the program, led by District Engineer Ron Johnston. District volunteers at first received information on the ages and Christmas wishes of 41 kids at the home ranging in ages from five to young adult. All of those wishes were met, but they soon learned of a family of six kids that would be arriving at the home just before Christmas, and volunteers went out and bought gifts for them as well! The Canyon, Hereford and Vega maintenance sections also provided six bicycles with matching helmets to be shared among the kids at the home. The Children's Home provides a loving and stable living environment for children and young adults who, for various reasons, have no home or family to care for them. This is the second year the Amarillo District has provided for these kids, who could really use a Merry Christmas in their lives. It is better to give than to receive, and the generosity of district employees once again has proven that point! See More
